I am no stranger to birds but this one I need help with. Here's the scoop

My aunt had a male and female cockatiel. The male didn't have his flight wings clipped and was good at coming back to the cage. One day he didn't come back. So ivy (the female she's 8 years old) became very depressed and aggressive towards everyone. I offered to take ivy home and see if I could make her happy again. Well I've worked with her for over 3 months now and she doesn't want to leave her cage. When I take her out of the cage to take a bath she's usually a sweet bird. It's just when she's in her cage, she becomes aggressive and hits her mirror to threaten me. She lunges at the bars and bites hard. I also have a one year old in the house and don't want him getting bit. She's only that way in the cage.

I went to the pet store to see if they had ideas of how to fix this problem and they told me to get another male. I brought him home and already picked out his name, bud. He's already showing signs of a good bird. Anyways ivy started singing for him and dancing and chirping happy when she saw him. He's very shy and only steps up on me. But ivy went after him and he fought back (bud is only about 2 1/2 months). This is a normal reaction for birds to do. Since I brought him home she's been worse. What do I do?
