Yesterday around 5:30 pm I was at work. I got a call from my girlfriend, she was hysterical and crying Diamond ( Jenday Conure ) got spooked and flew off.

My girlfriend her mom and dad were outside with the birds, Diamond and Tarzan ( Nanday Conure ) look up to Josie ( Scarlet Macaw ). Josie cant fly so she was sitting on the swing set in the yard. Diamond wanted to be like Josie so she flew over to the swing set and Josie didn't want her to be up there so she screamed and kinda went after her when she tried to land. After not being able to land she turned and tried to fly back to my girlfriend but got spooked by Alex ( African Grey ) and flew into the woods. This is when my girlfriend called me at work. I went and told my boss that it was an emergency and I needed to go. she let me go and me and my girlfriend went on a 3 hour long search for her. After hearing her 2 times in the woods I walked further out thinking she might have moved. She did but she moved closer to the house so I'm going in the complete wrong direction. I came up with the idea of grabbing Tarzan and putting him in a cage and see if he will make her come out of hiding. but we were so far in the woods we didn't turn around. After having no luck we turned around and walked back and grabbed Tarzan and put him in the cage and walked out. As soon as he screamed for her.. she screamed back and came flying. I'm so happy that her and Tarzan are inseparable because if they weren't who knows what would have happened

In the end we found her and checked her out before we let her with the others and once her and Tarzan were reunited she returned back from the shock and acted like herself.

Wing clipping is in the near future I didn't want her to be outside until they were clipped!

In the end everything worked out for the best and I'm so happy

Just wanted to update everyone on Nicky. I brought her to her first vet checkup today, all is well she's in overall pretty good shape. The first thing the vet said was she had mites (which was one of the reasons she needed to be seen for) vet gave her topical meds for that. I had them take a blood sample to run a panel for common illnesses and diseases but wont have those results until next week though i'm not expecting anything bad. Her weight is slightly off (on the low side of average) and she needs more orange and red veggies. I bought some (red palm oil?) from vet as a supplement per his suggestion. Vet said she appears to have been raised where there was plenty of human exposure but not a lot of handeling, but maybe that's why she is adjusting well at home. He gave me a list of really good books and so im going to order the top 3 on the list as well as a great book on gaining your birds trust and training. Hope to update this weekend with new pics :)

OK so I don't really know what i'm looking for posting this, I guess just to vent or share my feelings, maybe some advice.......idk. This past Saturday I adopted an Indian ringneck parrot for a childhood friend who couldn't give her enough attention on the condition on the condition that he could visit often to help transition her but also because he clearly loves her and didn't want to just disappear with her rehoming. However I just found out this morning that he died in a car accident yesterday :( His/my bird Nicky keeps calling out for him and it's breaking my heart....I feel terrible. Can she sense that he's gone or is this my heart strings being pulled? Will she over time learn to bond with me. I don't know what to do or if there is anything I can do to help her. She is 3-4 years old and is cage aggressive, she was only ever handled by her previous owner that just passed and even that was not enough to tame her. I've been sitting by her cage and talking to her often throughout the day when I put my hand on her cage to get her used to me she sometimes bites through the cage drawing blood but she will take apple and cheerios from my fingers, she talks alittle but her clarity is poor and I cant understand any of what she says except for her donkey noises :) and she loves her baths and talks back and forth with my lovebirds....she seems to enjoy that. I need advice on how to tame her and if there is anything else I should be doing for her. She is such a sweet amazing bird, I just need some guidance because her previous owner is no longer here to help. :(
