Mating
Ok I have alot of questions.. Just like 5 mins ago isaw my birds mating for the first time... Ok Ih ave had her for about one and a half months... She is a year old, I have never seen her lay an egg. Now that she mated will she lay an egg or more??? im not quiet sure how that works... But if she has eggs theres a chance that they will be fertile.... Please hlep I cant take care of chicks because I dont have time to hand raise them... Thanks alot Francis and Penny:o

for the mating to be successful, the female has to be in 'breeding mode' and ready to lay eggs. It's quite hard to tell if there will be any eggs - tiels don't lay eggs every time they mate. And sometimes they lay eggs when they don't mate. It usually takes about a week after a SUCCESSFUL mating for eggs to appear.
Yes, if the eggs appear there is a good chance that they will be fertile. Try and get hold of some fake eggs (most pet shops have them), so you can replace the eggs that your girl lays with the 'duds' to prevent her having chicks...
