    Peeping through egg

Well, tomorrow 2 will be 1 week old. While making my 4 hr. check on the little family, I picked up one dark egg & heard peeping coming from it. Plus, I actually felt it moving inside. I put it back right away & hope for the best. Is this common?

To be honest, I get very grossed out when the girls/women talk about their birth experiences. Not having kids, it really bothers me. But, I can honestly say, I am really excited about this. This is thrilling.

Thanks everyone for all your help. It's great to get on here & participate. I wonder how I remained silent for so long. Best - Pig

    Re: Peeping through egg

yep, it'll be hatching soon. they only start peeping when they break into the air sack in the end, and they do that when getting ready to hatch. if you are able to watch, it's an awsome thing seeing a chick hatch!
it takes quite a lot of work, but eventualy they'll get a tiny crack, and then it's all go! it'll keep pecking to get a hole, then wriggle (it's spinning around a bit) and peck again, to get a crack going around the wide end of the egg and keep going until the crack is basicly all the way around, then they'll PUSH, and it'll come off!
do note that if it doesn't hatch, don't try to get it out urself, there is uauly a reason and it'll likely be weak and die if you 'save' it. nature has it's reasons, so just leave it be!
    good luck!

WOW. Yes, I would love to see it happen, but so far, they like to hatch in the wee hours of the morning. And I will be :sleep .

    I'll keep ya posted.
