    Re: Aviary

Probably six budgies. especially if you want to keep them hiper happy....even 4-5 would be better. but if you dont put alot of toys in it..5-6 would be okay. My cousin had one of those things and he had only three. with alot of toys. and food dishes. Fodd dishes you'll need alot in one of those with more than 1 bird.

    anyway.i hope i helped....

    Aviary

    Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could advise me. I am about to buy an aviary. There is a picture of it here:

    this

It is 170cm High, 105cm Wide, and 60cm Deep. My question is, how many happy and healthy budgies would I be able to keep in it safely?

Thanks very much for your time.
    Lynne.

Like someone said above about the length thing. If I were you and you had the room I'd change the dimensions to make it longer and wider but maybe not as high. Just my oppinion. And I'd say 4 budgies would be perfect in that.

    Re: Aviary

The important measurement is length, because birds fly horizontally. Personally I'd only keep a pair of budgies in that, because it doesn't look large enough to house any more and allow flying room.

    Re: Aviary

    Hi again,

Thanks for all your replies. About the dimensions, this is the only one I can find that isn't too narrow. The rest are all ridiculously narrow but very tall. I don't know who designs them but they seriously need to keep birds themselves and they'd realise that tall cages are useless. I'm not sure I could change the dimensions. I could look into it I guess but I am very limited in any more space than that as it is. One of the factors in choosing an aviary is ease of cleaning as I am chronically ill and can't manage anything too hard going. Otherwise I'd have a wooden aviary made to my own specifications which would be great. There's no where else in the UK that I've seen that stocks metal aviaries any wider and shorter.

Thanks very much for all your opinions though. They are very much appreciated.

    Take care,
    Lynne.

    Re: Aviary

Oh. I thought you were building it. Just wondering how much does that cost? It is a neat design too.

    Thanks for the lovely welcome!

Hi bensbudgies , it costs 199. Quite a lot but it's a joint present from my family. I'm glad I found this board. It's full of such lovely people.

    Take care,
    Lynne.
