    Albino or not?

I just recently bought 2 all white budigies, with red eyes. Are these true albinos? How can I tell? If they are albino, how can I tell the sex of these birds?

    Thanks
    Crystal

    Re: Albino or not?

If they have the red eyes, and evelop no color in the next moult of two, they are .

I had heard albinos are all female, but I don't think this is true. If you know the breeder, it IS sex linked- I think- so they should be able to tell you.

To sex them, have your Avian vet do a DNA sexing . The good thing is, you don't have to wait until they are a certain age. Unlike the more frequent mutations, the cere can be brown on the male...or the female... so you can't tell with albinos.
    Congrats!

Thank you very much for your help. I bought them in a pet store so I can not contact the breeder but I will just wait and see what happens. I am so proud of them. I hope to have pics soon and will post them.

    Hi There
I have an albino bird here which i'm 99.9999% certain is a male as he was seen mating with a pastel lutino hen.

just a sidenote; just because they may mate with each other doesn't mean you have a male and female. 2 birds of the same sex can and often do go through the whole mating and nesting and stuff. so if all your eggs don't hatch, that's likly the prob!
