Albino or not?

I just recently bought 2 all white budigies, with red eyes. Are these true albinos? How can I tell? If they are albino, how can I tell the sex of these birds?

I had heard albinos are all female, but I don't think this is true. If you know the breeder, it IS sex linked- I think- so they should be able to tell you.

To sex them, have your Avian vet do a DNA sexing

. The good thing is, you don't have to wait until they are a certain age. Unlike the more frequent mutations, the cere can be brown on the male...or the female... so you can't tell with albinos.

Thank you very much for your help. I bought them in a pet store so I can not contact the breeder but I will just wait and see what happens. I am so proud of them. I hope to have pics soon and will post them.

I have an albino bird here which i'm 99.9999% certain is a male as he was seen mating with a pastel lutino hen.

just a sidenote; just because they may mate with each other doesn't mean you have a male and female. 2 birds of the same sex can and often do go through the whole mating and nesting and stuff. so if all your eggs don't hatch, that's likly the prob!
