    Question about a budgie

I have aquired a pretty female budgie from a lady, who no longer wanted the bird.

I named her Sammy, and she is semi-tame. She will sit on your shoulder, and when she is sitting on your finger, she has a tendancy to nibble a little too hard.
How can I break her of this habit??
    Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!

Keep her on your finger. Don't move, don't say anything, just let her nibble away. She'll soon realise that she gets absolutely nothing from biting (no screams and show, not being put back in the cage etc.) and will stop

It's also possible that she's trying to steady herself, so make sure your finger isnt' shaking or moving and is straight.

AND it's also possible that she's preening you and doesn't realize it hurts; if it's a repeated 'nibble' that's likely what she's doing. Usually if you say "OW" in a hurt, but not loud tone it's enough to stop them if preening is what they're doing.

Well wut I would do is just finger tame the bird and be very still and quiet. But make sure not to yell or hit the bird for it will make it even more violent and not trust you. Also, dont yell no or stop that really loud because that will only provoke you bird to bite again.

    Hope everything works out!!

and if you pull away when she does it it just teaches her to do it to make you go away and leave her alone!
yeah, it might hurt alot, but either put up with a bite for a little bit, or put up with her biting all the time....

    Re: Question about a budgie

I have my new budgie for a few days and he too nibbles at my finger when he sit on it. I figure he may be tasting the salt from my pours too.
