    tiel trouble

hey again everyone! I was just wondering, what is the best (and fastest) way to earn a cockatiel's trust? I have two cockatiels, but my grandma had one of them and it seems as if it is terrified of me. It used to go crazy when i came near its cage or put my hand near it. She used to live at my house and go everywhere with me. now, since she moved in with my grandma, the poor thing has its own way and HATES (it seems like it) to be held. Is it lack of attention or what? thanks so much guys, I'm dying to know!

It probably has gotten un-tamed :/

Just begin how you tamed him the first time, with your hand ont he cage, then after the tiel is comfortable, move it inside, etc.

    thanks! this is really weird:
I took my recent tamed bird, Paco, by Crystal (the "untamed bird") to show her that there was nothing to fear about me and things. I was typing on my laptop next to crystal's cage with Paco on my shoulder and the birds chirping to eachother. after about 30 to 45 minutes, Crystal jumped to the door if her cage, looked at me, took flight (she REALLY needs her wings clipped) and landed on the back of my laptop and looked at me. I offered her my finger and she took it!!! right now Crystal is sitting on one of my shoulders and Paco is on the other, i would of never guessed!!!

    Re: tiel trouble

is her cage sitting way below your eye level?? because that is the only reason some tiels i know would go crazy when i come by the cage.. yeah.. i brought a tamed cockatiel, well half-tamed, to show the wild ones how much fun it is to perch on me.. and i sort of got the interest of all of them.. i haven't won their trust yet.. but it's building.. i have more success than the owner.. they all look at me like they are jealous of the half-tamed.. but then they are affraid..

Oh.. i got this one.. if you don't want to chance it.. take it to an avian vet or a pet shop that is reputable.. meaning that they can be trusted to do something like that.. don't trust all though.. because some say they do but actually they don't know how.. anyway.. if you don't want to lose your trust.. then let someone else do it..

    Go tiels tiels!!!

Yeah, if you have someone else do it, the bird will associate it with them more than you, so will probably be WAY less grumpy toward you than if you had done it!
