    Re: babies budgies

Well I think I am somewhat starting to understand colours and baby variatins etc. And i think in this situation you'll end up with none of the babies being blue, or any with white heads. Ummm, is it a lutino or a pied? If it was a pied you could have many different looking babies. I think most of the babies would be olive, light, or normal green tho, just because green is the dominant colour when breeding.
Thats just my htoughts, i could be way off,

I thought the easiest way to explain would be to show some pictures.
But since you've said that it has a green patch on the under belly that means its a pied.
Anyways, pieds are a breed of budgies with random patches of a different colour. There are 2 types of pieds, dominant pieds and recessive pieds. These birds are both pieds:

    If yours looks like this:
    http://www.tailfeathersnetwork.com/g...p?image_id=678
    it is a recessive pied.
If it were a lutino (which is the green version of albino) you would have a bird that looks like this:

    Hope it helped a little.

    Re: babies budgies

These should help show how each pied is different. )I've included white and green series.
    Okay so let's start it:
This is my bird Pearl (who passed away a while ago), she is a recessive pied:

This is also my bird Drake, who is a dominant pied:

    Notice the difference?
This is a recessive pied (yellow):

This is a dominant pied (yellow):

There that should help you out. It is very confusing at first, but soon it will be an automatic thing. So budgielover4life, when are you planning on breeding? I would love to see pix of your birds.

    Re: babies budgies

Just to clarify, pieds/lutinos/albinos are a mutation of budgie, not a breed . They are basically budgies with unique colorings. Lutinos are all yellow with white cheek patches and red eyes, albinos are completely white with red eyes. And pieds... well bensbudgies is giving you the scoop on that .
