lovebirds at petco
i know this is in the wrong topic, but there are not much people in the lovebirds forum. today while my mom and i were shopping around petco, we saw a peached faced lovebird that was sleeping in it's cage. she was on the floor sleeping with her head curled under her belly. is she sick??

The head under belly may be okay to me.
Just the sleeping on floor that is worrying if he was perched on 2 feet then he is sick, staying on the floor seems a odd as well.

feet

Re: feet
perhpas ifthe lovebird has only just left a nest, and is still young i believe young birds have to sleep on too feet until the get developed however i think thats unlikely so i would inform the staff next time you see him

Re: feet
I usually see baby lovebirds huddled together at the bottom of the cage. If she was alone, she had nobody to huddle with. Hard to say if what you describe is normal or not.

Re: feet
Were any of the other lovebirds like this one?

Fly my little pretties, FLY!
Hatched!
Re: feet
it could be the bird was just sleeping, my birds would rather sleep on top of thier cage then on thier perch. I would go back and check to see if the bird is still there and what it is doing. keep us posted!

Re: feet
All the love birds at Pet land where I get crickets for our chameleon are always on the floor of thier cages I think they just like it that way.

sick
Some of them were on the perches and some weren't. While I went closer to the cage, they all ran away except that one on the floor, it was sleeping.:|
