Urgent Urgent Estion!!!
is it bad to separate a pair of previously bred cockatiels to put them with new mates? my sister wants to buy this male and put it in with our female because his owner doesn't want him any more but he has been with a female for a long time now? would that affect him in a new relationship with our bird?

Re: Urgent Urgent Estion!!!
It shouldn't be too bad on them but do give them time to adjust. The past pair will most likely take awhile to get over each other. There are exceptions, as my male tiel and a newer female seem to be very interested in one other, even though the male's bonded to another hen. I actually have to keep the two apart to stop them from bonding and leaving my poor hen that's on eggs all alone. ^__^

I don't see why not. If the male bonds with one of the females and they start nesting behavior, it'll be a good idea to take the lone female out as she might get attacked.
