    no eggs

We have a female 1 1/2 years old and a male 9 months old. 5 weeks ago we bought a nesting house and she was immediately interested. they have been mating a few times every day for at least the last 4 weeks. In the beginning it was disasterous, but now they have it down pat! She stays in her house, only comes out to poop really big poops, drink, eat a little and mate. He feeds her from the hole. She flew around tonight for a bit and isn't very light on her wings anymore. Why don't we have eggs? Any ideas?

I would say from reading your post that you are not far off from having eggs. That sounds an awful lot like the way ours were behaving shortly before we had eggs. We now have 3 new birds from that activity who are approximately 6 1/2 weeks old. If you read the threads..."We've got eggs and pics" "Aww geez, not in the food bowl" and "We've got pipping and Peeping" the whole story is documented in text and pics from the beginning in December right up to today. Good luck with yours...

Peter: the babies are really 6 1/2 weeks old? Doesn't time fly!

Carol: I don't have any advice, but I hope it all goes well. The mum is just on the right side of breeding age but the dad is a little young, I hope they're up for the task. If not, there is plenty of advice around for handrearing bubs. Best of luck

Tanni...your post got me wondering...so I checked the calendar and I was off just a bit Pellet was 7 weeks on Monday, Boca was 7 weeks yesterday and Kalea will be 7 weeks tomorrow(Thursday). I have a hard time believing it myself

I agree with Tanni in regard to your male being a touch young...however if he is a quick learner and dedicated, then things should work out alright. If necessary, the female can look after the chicks herself.

It's been 8 weeks now and still no eggs. She is acting the part by sitting in the little house all day. They still mate a few times daily. What's going on?
