    Safe alternative for WD-40?

Ok so all the squeaky doors in the house are driving me nuts. I long to use my can of WD-40 but it smells so strongly that I wouldn't even feel safe using it on one side of the house with the birds locked up on the other side.

I used butter flavored Pam cooking spray to oil the squeaky hamster wheel. Am I going to have to get creative? Crisco? Olive oil? Anyone know of anything safe, natural, or non toxic to use?

edit: (crap I meant to post this in the General Discussion forum)

    Re: Safe alternative for WD-40?

Y'know, I think it was Dani who was talking about putting cooking oil in a spray-bottle for cooking purposes.. (maybe kind of like what we mist our birds with). Isn't that the same premise as WD-40? As long as it wouldn't spoil (might wanna check on that).. why not get a spray bottle and spritz some on there. Another suggestion: Baby oil in a spray bottle.

um, how about plain oil that was made and used to fix squeaks for decades
3 in 1 or the like. comes in small metal container with red nipple you pull up to administer drops.

WD-40 is neat, but I've stopped using for my health too. and it lingers.

there are also silicon sprays, dry dust type lubricants etc.

    Re: Safe alternative for WD-40?

    found this by fluke after
google search "best oil to fix squeaky door"
    http://www.ehow.com/how_347_lubricate-door-hinges.html
    http://www.foodfunandfacts.com/handyhouseholdhints.htm

there's more hits, but pretty much say the same as me
