    Ready ?

I'm Hoping To Breed My Budgies And Decided That I Wanted To Make Sure I Researched Properly To Prevent Them Becoming Stressed To A Point That Is Unnecessary. I Was Told That My Budgies Were About 16 Weeks When I Bought Them But A Friend Who Also Breeds Budgies Said That They Were More Like 7 Months Which Would Make Them Just Over 10 Months Now. I've Noticed That My Males Cere Has Changed To A Bright Blue From A Dull Blue And My Females Cere Has Changed From Almost Milky To A Sort Of Wood Colour. They Preen One Another, Sit Next To One Another And Touch Beaks Together As If They're Kissing So When I First Noticed This I Put In A Nesting Box, The Same Behaviour Continued But As Far As I Know They've Not Mated And She's Not Gone Near The Nesting Box. Can Anyone Tell Me Why This Is Please, They've Bonded And I Think They're Old Enough So I Just Don't Understand. Thankyou

They are able to breed at even under 10 months old but they shouldnt be allowed until about 12-14 months old. There are many reasons she is not wanting to go near the box, one of them being that she is too young. What do you feed them? Do they have a cuttlebone or egg shells?

Yes, She Has Cuttlebone In The Cage, She Eats Egg And The Seed She Eats Is Trill. I've Heard That There Is A Supplement Thing You Can Get To Help During Breeding, Do You Know What Its Called And If Its Any Good ? Thankyou For Your Help.

    Re: Ready ?

There seems to be a lot of people wanting to breed their too young budgies of late. If you want to be properly safe, wait until your birds are closer to at least 18 months of age. Also, why is it that you want to breed your birds??
