    Question African Gray

A family friend has passed away and left behind a 5 year old African Gray. His wife is unable to care for her and is looking to sale the bird.

Where is a good site to sale this bird?

The best thing to do is to give the bird to a good parrot rescue.

I agree with Tielguy. An animal rescue is the way to go. That way you know that the grey will end up with a *good* owner, as opposed to whoever is willing to shell out the cash for the latest "fad pet."

Do not sell it...find a really good person to take it, or take him to a reputable parrot rescue. Any good person or rescue should stack up to close scrutiny--they ought to know a lot about birds and be someone who will give him a "forever home."

Do not sell the bird to any person who will pay, anyone who wants a bird "for cheap or free" just to get a deal, or to a breeder. Make sure this person's pet gets a really good home, which for parrots can be few and far between.

    Re: African Gray

Hi. I hope you can talk her into surrendering the bird to a rescue. Here's a link to some rescues near you. Have her log on a nd talk to some of us so she can hear what can happen to a poor bird that is released in to the hands of someone that only wants her for "show". The new will wear off and then the bird will be shoved in a corner and forgotten. please do what you can to convince her to take it to a rescue. Thanks so much-Bev
