    Talking New BABY budgie!!!!

Awwwwwww! Today I got my new BAAAABEEEEEEE budgie!! It is SO CUTE!! I am smitten!!

Remember the photos I posted a while ago of a bowl full of budgies, and I wanted to choose the pale one? Well, the pale one is now fully feathered, has white wings and a white head, a blue belly, and lives with me!! I have called it Malibu, like the coconut drink, because coconut is white, and most of this bird is too. The other name I had in mind was Spunky, but it sounds too male, and I have a feeling that this bird may be a female. I don't know for sure what sex this bird will be yet, it is only 9 weeks old, so too early to tell. It is so sweet, a bigger sized bird like a show budgie. It has the 'angry eyebrows', baby black eyes, and is already BIGGER than little 2 year old Banshee. The breeder expects it to get bigger. I saw the parents today. Mum is a big albino, and dad is a HUGE chunky blue bird.

As soon as I saw this bird in the cage, waiting for me, it jumped onto the bars and I put my hands there, and it jumped onto my finger, so excited to see me and let me stroke it straight away. The breeders was surprised, said it had taken to me straight away, and that it didn't react like that to him. Aww! So cute.

Meet my little baby Malibu. He/she is already tame and tolerant of handling even although it has not been hand reared, and seems to LOVE being stroked around the head and body. It is amazing to have a cuddly budgie again, I have missed cuddling my little Jo Jo. I am so lucky to have this bird.

He/she is currently living in a small quarantine cage in the bedroom, where it will be for 30 days until the quarantine period is over. Then I will introduce Malibu to Banshee.

Playing on the bars, desperate for attention. Such a sweet baby bird.

Would anyone else like to hazard a guess at the sex? I will guess female at this stage (hoping male - less egg problems!), although the character is more male-like. Kathy - any ideas?

What a beautiful bird! I wouldn't even venture a guess about male/female (remember the last debate? hehehehe) but whatever he/she turns out to be will be fine and a wonderful bird

    Re: New BABY budgie!!!!

Thanks Kathy. She is only nine weeks.

I thought male at first too because the cere has purple-blueish colour in it, but I have been in the habit of calling it a she just because this bird reminds me so much of Jo Jo facially, so I am now thinking a she, but for no good reason. I hope male, but I will love her equally either way.

She is very quiet this evening, different to what she was like this afternoon. She seems a bit depressed. Must be the stress of moving. Maybe she feels lonely away from her aviary mates? It doesn't look like she has eaten any food. I can see only 3-4 seed shucks on the floor. I have a feeding pot, plus I sprinkled some onto the floor too because she may be used to it down there. She only started eating for herself last week after she came out of the nest box. I hope that she starts to eat tomorrow, and perks up again.

Congrats on your new baby! He/she is so pretty! I am so glad she is very tame to you! Candy isn't like that to me, she doesn't like her head or back touched, but that's okay for me ^_^

Awww...Mailbu is such a pretty baby!! I love that soft powder blue color that blends into the white of her feathers. It makes her look like she's glowing!!

Malibu might be a boy, but we'll see. What a lovely bird!!
