I snapped photos of Rhoobarb just now showing how he gets onto his favourite place to perch - the handle of the balcony door.

First, he flies up to the curtain rail, and pulls the curtain along with his beak until he thinks it is in the right place.

Then he climbs down the curtain, making numerous holes in it on his way down. It looks like moths have been at it with all those holes!

Then, when he is at the same level as the door handle, he flaps his wings whilst gripping the curtain with his feet, to pull himself along far enough to reach the handle. He has his route all sussed out!

Then he climbs on (watch out for the red butt shot

)

Proud of himself.

Now he can watch the world go by.

Hahahaha I love the red butt photo! For shame Rhooo!! I will not let my hubby see these photos! He keeps going to see an african gray that is for sale at a local pet shop.

And they say animals don't have logical thinking... Bullsh**! They are smarter than humans! Roo is very cute and smart! I am slightly glad Bill had not demostrated such abilities yet... He did figure out that if he jumps from his T-stand on to the bed and then walks to my husband, I have time to catch him, so now he just jumps from the T-stand to as far into the bed space as possible instead of the edge, since I have less time to intersect him then... He also figured that if he walks very quietly to my mom and then says Boo, she freaks out and he has a good laugh!

LeeAnne, I think Rhoo is one of the smartest birds I've ever seen/read about

You must be very proud of him !

What does he do when you wash the curtains? **snickers as she sees LeeAnne rush to take them down for a "good wash"**

dude : stop showing off, you got caught.! now the humans will stop and think...! how smart is my bird..? you may well have just blown it for all your feathered friends around the world who have been playing these humans all along..

LoL...yeah I would imagine that he'd smack his beak into the door when he tried to land..cause they gotta lean forward to get their balance and there's not a ton of room in between the door handle and the glass.

Adorable pictures btw...Rhoo is adorable..and I just LOVE the name Rhoobarb for him. I love the red butt pic as well. Smart little dude. I don't remember if you've said..is he getting better with the biting? I know a little while ago he was pretty bitey with you. Hope that's gotten better

He tends to avoid the window when all the net curtains are down too. I think the whole 'open' look of the room confuses him. I wish I could keep the curtains down permanently to stop him climbing and BITING them. He is so naughty!

I think Alicia is right, that there is not enough room there for him to land properly. He'd probably smack his head into the glass.

is he getting better with the biting?

Yes! Much better than before. The major jealousy issues have slowly gone away since Jo Jo died. He still bites now and again under certain circumstances, but that is to be expected coming from a hormonal jealous 7 year old grey.

There is still some work to do, but he is certainly mellowing out now.

Dude, I love Rhoobarb! He's just so funny! I love how he looks so proud once he gets to his "perch." All the pictures are just awesome!

Ahh, I just can't get enough of Rhoobarb.
