You can tell he REALLY wants to go to his night cage in the "Presenting... Oliver!" vid.
Great little chatterbox. I'd love a Gray if I weren't so worried about making one phobic.

Hahaha, that's exactly what I thought the first time I heard him! ^_^ But in the one where he's playing on the desk, you can hear the guy (who I assume is "Jim"), and Oliver sounds just like him. ^_^ I remember him saying *something* for a very short time in one of the later videos, and he said it in a girly voice...
I also loved the "don't poop in your water" thing. Too funny!

Awesome bird! What a character. Thanks for linking, I sent the link on to my ex-husband to enjoy. (He has our grey, Solo, and I know he'll appreciate the videos and will probably watch them with Solo.)

Haha Christine!! He does sound like Rainman!! "Uh-oh" (all he needs to learn is 'fart!')

Re: Oliver.
so cute. i love that he talks mainly in his dad's voice, but sometimes in his mom's. i liked the "don't poop in your water", "big trouble" video, and the "whoops!" whenever a pen went off the table.
so cute!

Re: Oliver.
Hi to everyone, I'm the voice that Oliver has chose to mimic. I don't know why because he loves my wife, his mama. He likes me ok but I think he wants to be higher in the pecking order of the flock than me. I loved the comparison to Rainman, one of my neighbors made the same comment. He is a little over 3 years old and has only started saying some things in my wife's voice in the last month or two. I have no idea why he sounds so much like a human other than that he seems to be able to mimic any sound that he hears, be it a machine, human or animal. Pretty much I'm his butler and cook, I make him breakfast and come home for lunch everday and feed him.(lunch hour is his quiet time all he says is "wanna come out and have some foooodd" Thanks and good luck with all of your companions. I could not believe that Oliver was on the internet when my wife showed me, he's getting his 15 minutes of fame early.
Hope this is not too long, I'm a newbe.

Re: Oliver.
Welcome to Tailfeathers!
I've heard that greys will mimic the voice of the perceived "rival" for the loved one's affections. I know that while my grey was good with both myself and my ex, he got along better with my ex, but he mimiced MY voice. I don't know that this is a fact, but if you look into the research being done by Dr. Irene Pepperberg with her african greys Alex and Griffin, she is using a model/rival method and I think it seems to support this theory. Anyway, Oliver is a riot; you guys have a very special bird there.

Hello! I'm Oliver's Mom and I just signed up tonite. Thanks for all your kind words.
Aviennda, that makes so much sense! I had never thought of it that way before. Thanks.
I just got a new digital mini camcorder for Christmas. I can't wait to see how it films. It's got to be better than what I've been using with my camera. I hope to have some new stuff up this weekend.
Look forward to learning some more here.

Re: Oliver.
I was going to say this long before I found out that Oliver's parronts were new members but, it sounds (and definetely looks) like Oliver is VERY loved and well taken care of. Everything he says is positive and he has SO many toys and places to go in your home, that was the biggest thing that stuck out to me!
It's obvious that Oliver is VERY happy with his mom and dad, he is such a great, happy bird!!!
and to tailfeathers! You'll love it here!
My favorite phrase was the "don't poop in your water" one, that was hilarious!!!! My stomach hurts now, Oliver is SO funny! I love the kisses too, I can't resist a kissing birdie!
Oh ya, to Jim and Jill, make sure you come and stop by the conure section!
I could see the whole rival thing too, that makes total sense, trying to trick you into thinking he's your hubby! Now THAT'S a smart bird! I know Boogie is (usually) most attached to me, and he can mimick Ricky's chirping to a T, whereas me.... He's not so inclined to copy me all the time....

Re: Oliver.
OMG!!
I just have to share what I just heard.
I watched the 'Olivers in Big Trouble' video for the first time at the beginning of the month. I have watched it quite a few times since, and laughed a lot. I have gone over to Rhoobarb, and just randomly said "Rhoobarbs in BIIIIG trouble" to him a few times.
I am just sitting here at my computer now, in the next room to Rhoobarb, and I have heard Rhoobarb say twice, in my high pitched voice "Rhoobarb's in BIIIIIG..." without the trouble, followed by the sound of my laugh.
I can't believe he has actually picked that up. I have harldy said it to him, only after the few times I have watched the Oliver video. They are so smart and seem to pick up sentences they like the sound of.
I am so surprised. I bet there are loads of parrots around the world now who say this because of owners copying the Oliver video.
