A dilution of water and vinegar works great to clean the house with; it's sort of all-purpose. I know of many bird owners who only use vinegar to clean their homes with. Of course, you have to rinse the floors and counters off well after using vinegar, otherwise things are slippery. A pasty mixture of baking soda and water is also good for scrubbing down sinks and bath tubs.

There are now some newer household cleaners that contain Teflon, so you have to watch out for those; would be dangerous to use in a home where there are birds.

Here is an excellent article on safe cleaning tips/products:

    Safe cleaning products

Due to my Immune deficiency problem I'm forced to use bleach and other extremely strong disinfectants sometimes in the bathroom and kitchen and a once in a great while in my bedroom where the birds are. I'm always very careful to close the door to the room when I use them in the rest of the house and always very sparingly where ever the birds are.
I haven't found a better solution to my disinfectant problem yet.
