Anyway! I'm not gonna ramble about the million cute things she has done in the few hours she has been here, so here is pics!!!

By the way, I am thinking of names for her (DNA tested). I wanted to see if you guys could give me some ideas?? I want something not too birdy (like Polly), not too cutsey (like Baby or Sweetie), and not anything like smokey or silver. So, basically human like names. So far I have thought of Nikki and Mia, but I am not sure about either. Ideas appreciated!!!

OH MAN!!! Dude, she's too cute! Look at those black clueless eyes!!! And I looooove her fluffy little head!!! I love the progression of the pictures, too -- how at first she seems to be turning her back to the camera, but then slowly she starts to get more "into it." And ooooh man, she has a bell! As you might already know, bells are one of Pokey's favorite toys. ^_^

I love the "giraffe neck" too! It's one of the things I always thought was unique and funny about timnehs. ^_^ I always make fun of Pokey when she stretches her neck out all the way.

Ooh, congratulations on finally having your baby home with you! I'll try to think of some names, but I find it hard to concentrate when there's a big cute thing with a fluffy gray head on my computer. ^_^

Maaan I am just captured by this baby....and I am finding it soooo hard to just leav her alone!! Haha but I have been good, I only held her for a couple of minutes, to show my dad that beak is not bad =) He was nervous at first...hehe.

I LOVE her fat baby head and her cute baby eyes and just....oh man!! Yeah, I totally need help on names. This gal is gonna be around for the rest of our lives so I want it to stick....haha I am going to go picture crazy the next few days...so expect more to come!! I hope you can handle it!

Pho- I thought about Pokey when I gave her the bell cause she SHOOK it like crazy. Lol of course not as crazy as Pokey...and she kept dropping it! Clumsy Baby!!!

By the way... our baby has an aversion to being touched (which i expected from a new to the home baby)...but, does Pokey like being touched? I guess I don't really know HOW to let her know scritches are okay (of course it will take time!). Anyway, I'm gonna shut up!!!

I just love her big black eyes. I'm afraid I'm no help with names -- took me 5 weeks of visiting with Willow....

Looking forward to stories, too! BTW, Willow is particular about the times she likes to be touched, usually when she's sleepy or feeling a bit insecure about something. If she does want me to scritch her head, sometimes she bows, sometimes she'll grab my thumb with her beak. The first time she looked like she actually enjoyed it, she was scratching her own head and sort of holding it and squishing it with her foot.

What a pretty bird!! Naming is the hardest. It took me several months to decide. I looked up names on the internet. I remember doing a Google search for baby names and went to several sites. Do a search for baby names and pet names.

hillari- many greys like less "hands-on" time than other species, and if you are used to conures, they can seem kinda standoffish about it.

from the pix, i would not worry though- seems like she is unafruad, likes you, and is adapting well.

personally, i like old-fashioned women's names like ingrid, betty, hazel, etc.

Regarding a name, I am thinking along the lines of human names like you said. I was also thinking because she is a grey, and you mentioned the name Silver, how about something like Sylvia? Sounds sort of like silver, but a human version.

Hehe thanks for all the replies!! Today we worked on step-ups a little bit before I went to class. She is still a bit standofish, so I am not gonna push it with her. I wanna do EVERYTHING right!!! I am reading all the books I have already read like craaazszzyyy.

Yeah, I like human like names and Greek goddess, ect. Nike is a good one! I think it will come to me when I hear it...thats what happened with all of my other animals, even though it took me weeks! Thanks for the suggestions so far...I am sure I will have pics up soon 'cause I am just nutty like that

What an adorable baby! For teaching her to enjoy cuddles, try in the evenings when she's full and sleepy in a dimly lit room. Lay back on a couch or in a chair with her on your chest and begin to try gently petting her beak, cheeks and head. You might even give her a little toy to chew on while you pet her to keep her distracted at first, but I find if they're sleepy and relaxed they seem to tolerate the petting better and will soon come to realize that "hey, that's pretty nice!" Good luck with it. She's really young still, so you shouldn't have any problems showing her that scritches are a good thing. (My grey loved to be petted and cuddled, btw, just not by strangers, though he would tolerate a casual pet from them.)
