Canaries at every petstore i've been to are over $100. You may be able to find a breeder where you can get one for cheaper.

At our store they were 99, and at PetCo (ick) they are 74.99 I have not seen any ruby or red factor anywhere.

    Re: price of a canary?

I just made a post I met a breeder that sells them for 80 dollars a pair. He is anxious to get rid of them. I have his number if you want it.

It seems almost unbelievable that you guys have to pay so much for your birds. While your petrol is cheaper than we get over here in Australia, we can buy canarys for $10

karen : the bird prices vary from here (aus ) to there USA.
some are better for us and some are better for them.
compare macaw, amazons, greys prices and they win hands down.
we win on too's, most finches, budgies, tiels, ringnecks etc

    regards

I had no idea that canary's are that expensive here in the US. I never priced them and thought all along they were about the same price as a budgie. Wrong!

    Re: price of a canary?

I paid 79.99 for a red factor at a small birds only store, but be ready to take it to the vets as soon as you get one, because it is very common for canaries to have air sac mites (which kill's it over time) so it will need to be checked out no matter where you get it from!

also they need a big cage because they never sit still ,always jumping around or flying.

I really love canaries, their beautiful song's...i really miss mine,he died the first of the year and in doing research as to why, i found this forum...if only i'd found it sooner i might have been able to save him.
