    Bullet Head

I have heard of green cheek conures doing a 'bullet head' think when they get territorial. Can anyone describe this to me? I would love to see a video, picture, or sound file if you have one!! Thanks ahead of time.

    Ellie The Belly....

We call it flat toppin' or stalkin'. This look is usually accompanied by a strut & likely a bite

Aaah. So basically he is strutting around, sticking his chest out? I have seen Link do this when my dads wife comes to my room. He will get really fluffy, bob his head in circles and stick his chest waaaay out, making 'penguin sounds' the whole time. Is this what you're talking about? And why would he do that around her??

yes, but the head is the key before you see movement. the back of the neck puffs out, whiole the top stays flat & tight at the same time. beanie does this a lot, accompanied by the "weeeet!" noise.

that first pic is soooo deja vu! it made me laugh- i know that maneuver so well!

Rocky did that alot! Ace doesn't. The head gets all squared up and they get real cocky!

Hahahahahaah! Boogie does that too! But it's when he's in 'that mood' and you go to reach for him and he does that sound that Dani described and then lunges at your finger and bites HARD! Never drawn blood but sure leaves a mark for awhile.

When he does it tho, he's usually been overstimulated and needs a timeout or some time to just calm down and gather his thoughts again..... He usually does this to us when he first comes out of his cage for the day (gets very excited for that), if dad's around to say hi (he ADORES him lately), or the odd time he's out and we're making supper.... Then it's just too much action and not enough eyes on his head to watch everything.
From the crazy mind of Candace....

RIP Boogie Jan 8/04 ~ Sept 3/06~~~~~~~RIP Eater
