    Another food question

Alright, so with all this I've been reading lately about the effects of pesticides on our fids, I am very concerned about feeding them fresh produce. I went to the store yesterday to purchase some organic stuff, but the only thing they had was lettuce...all kinds of organic lettuce. That's just not going to cut it for their veggie needs. So, I have an order for Beak Appetite and Veggie Heaven (two of those meals that you cook) and I'm wondering if I feed those daily along with the ZuPreem natural that I've also ordered, do you think that will be enough variety for my fids? At least until I find a store that offers more organic variety?? If not any suggestions for what to feed them without the risk of poisoning them with pesticides would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks All!!

I think that is a wonderful start. Doing this is better than nothingm which is what too many people do.

Your fids will sure be happy to see all that yummy food. Getting that, and eventually the fresh foods will be mentally stimulating as well as good for them. You can try sprouting your own seeds and growing some of your own veggies (sprouting you can do all year, growing veggies will have to wait until warm climate) if you can't find what you need at the store.

Yeah, I can't wait for Spring and Summer. I've always grown green beans and tomatoes along with any others I feel like doing that year. This year I'll have some real motivation for getting my veggie garden started!!

Oh another thing, I've read some of the instructions on sprouting and there are so many rules on disinfecting properly and using the right utensils and such that it just really scares me. I'm afraid I'd mess something up and my fids would get sick so for now anyways I don't plan on doing the sprouts.

I've never done it before because of the same fears, but one of our members, Ducky, did it with great success when converting her cockatiel to pellets. You could zap her a private message or hopefully she'll swing by this thread and advise. (if you're interested, that is!)

Do you have any organic only stores around you? We get all (or most) of our organic food from just a local place. I think that would be the best place, since everything would be organic. I know some stores also sell organic frozen veggies, which might work too.

Oh it would be awesome to find organic frozen! No worries about it going to waste. I am planning on contacting several different "farmers markets" that we have in the area. I know we have a new store that is sort of close to here that focuses on produce and fresh flowers and such I'm going to call them and find out if they have organic and how large their selection is. It would be worth it to me to make a weekly trip out there.
