Wink Beautiful 4 year old Conure

I have a very beautiful, very vocal, loving, 4 year old conure that I must sell as soon as possible. Family is very attached. But he is a mans bird, and due to recent job changes, hubby does not have time to spend with him. He announces when hubby arrives, and when the bus come homes. Plays peek-a-boo, loves CMT and dances. He has a good diet of veggies, fruit and seed. Whispers night night, love you, blows kisses, and pretents to snore plus more. Please if you are interested let me know. thanks so much. debbie

One question: does he not tolerate you at all, or does he just PREFER your husband? If so, limited time with your husband and another session with you...plus lots of toys and stimulation when you aren't directly playing with him...might do the trick. If so, might you want to rethink rehoming him?

If not...We're in Bloomington, Indiana. Under the right circumstances, we might be able to consider taking him. But I'm not sure our situation would be ideal, because I am the main "conure person" and am female. THat might be not be for the best, if his affections are indeed a gender issue and not an issue of him just having attached to your husband. My husband's attentions get rather taken up by our African Grey, who is enamored with him. Also, we are sometimes pressed for time too--we are around a lot and have a bird room for playtime, but we're not around 24/7, so depending on your family's habits he might have an equal amount of attention at your abode.

But if you feel that he MUST be rehomed and have trouble finding a person with whom your are comfortable, we might be able to consider it. We'd have to take him in temporarily and see how he adjusts--if he likes us, if he likes being around another sun conure or not, etc. I would really only feel OK about it if the dynamic was good for your little guy and OK for our flock as well. That's why, I suspect, someone less "pressed" than us would be best. I just want to say Hi in case you get into a real spot or at least want the support of knowing that there are other bird people in region. (Or at least, within 10 hrs of you!)

He sounds like a really sweet bird. I wish the best to you!

    danielle-

i have found that what happens in one home does not equate what will happen in another. in her home, the bird prefers or is social only with the husband. but in yours, esp with flock socialization, that may not be the case.

chico, our hahn's rescue, lived with the same family for 3 years. he loved the husband, was aggressive to the wife, civil most of the time to the children. he was an only bird. after quarantine, he joined our flock & learned the rules quickly. he is good with both julia AND me (we doubled his fave human contact!), and is great with our other birds. all it takes is a bit of work.
