Thanks, Chelle! I'm such a dork, Pippin's favorite perch is a boing and I didn't even know what they were called!

Your welcome. I have scraped the idea of buying a boing for now. I am going to try a couple of other ideas first. I am out of zip ties, so it must wait till tomorrow.

Lori, that's fine. I'm glad you like it so much! I don't know if you've seen Milo's gym? I actually like that one better, there's more space to play.

Can't wait to see Merlin's gym when you're done!

This is Milo's. Sorry it's not a great picture, but you can see the basic idea.

Re: Gonna try my hand at a PVC gym today!

Has anyone tried a hanging PVC play area? I'm thinking of trying one now that my little brat is getting his flight feathers so he'll have something other than dive-bombing hubby and I to entertain him. (He doesn't do it yet, but I know my boy. It's coming.) I'm just wondering if there are any tips on things to do/avoid with hanging gyms?

I think you'd want to actually glue the pipes together if you were going to hang it(far away from your bird of course). I know just picking up my gyms sometimes will make a pipe come out of the connector.

One thing: I don't know if this has been said before, but do not cut PVC around your birds. I'm pretty sure it gives off toxic fumes when being cut, so make sure you do it far away(I make mine in the garage at our workbench).

I was thinking the same thing. I'm just not sure what type of glue to use. I don't want to use one of those heavy-duty adhesives. They give off fumes months after you use them, even if you can't really smell them. Do you know of anything strong but safe that would work?

Hmm. What about using vetwrap? If I was to wrap the joints along with the straight pieces, would it hold the gym together?
