I know of one called H2O I think...I think I've heard of people using it, but I'm not for sure, so don't quote me!

    Re: Bird cage Paint

I know I found a thread somewhere on the board that recommended Krylon paint. They have a "Kid-Tuff" that is non-toxic. I contacted the company and received this email:

Thank you for taking the time to write. The product contains no lead or zinc hazards. For complete health & safety information, we are forwarding a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) in a separate e-mail. If you have questions about the information, please contact our Regulatory Department via our help-line at 1-800-247-3268.

    Thank you for contacting Krylon.

    Sincerely,

    Keith

I have a copy of the MSDS file, if anyone wants me to send it to them.

Added: For those of us in the great white north, I called Krylon for a local retailer. They said we probably won't find Kid-Tuff in Canada, but we can get their H20 paint, which is basically the same but made from water-based latex. I cheched the MSDS, and it's pretty much the same information. They carry it at Canadian Tire.

Just wanted to mention- even if it is not toxic, the cage should be completely dried and wiped down to eliminate any residue, and the area should be well aired out before the birds are allowed inside. Be especially careful about this if it is an aerosol product.

Just wanted to post- you might want to search www.birdtalkmagazine.com they had an article on this subject a year or two back. You might be able to find that on their website

    Re: Bird cage Paint

Where they really chewing or just liking? I know my birds tend to gnaw on their cages some- but really they more 'lick' the cage around the areas where the food bowls are- getting last tastes of their long gone treats I suppose
If its a problem- there is some stuff out there called Apple Bitter Spray. Ment for birds who pluck their feathers, but I dont see why you can't spray it on the cage as a detterant to stop them from chewing it.

    Re: Bird cage Paint

You might want to get a better quality cage. Something that is powder coated, not painted.
