    This is him I think!!

    Kakarikis.
    Ever heard of that bird?

I saw one the other day in this darling pet shop I go to. I adore the way they treat their birds. It was the most adorable bird.
If anyone has any information on them, I am just curious. I have never seen tem around before and I would most certainly like to learn about them.
My Darling Skyer, I love you.

the link that lori provided is awesome.. it best descrides the kakariki's, as far as the do's and don't go, and gives a brilliant insight into the birds.
and when it comes to thier hyper nature, it is all true..
my friend has a bird shop and i have spent many an hour just watchin 2 kakariki's pace up and down a perch, and actually stepping over the zebra finches that are in thier way..

Re: This is him I think!!

I've always heard of them as aviary birds, not pets. But, since I've rarely heard of them, I'm not sure that's true.

Chelle, the pic matty posted is actually his friends bird store, I believe.

    thats correct..!
I am blown away by that picture. They all get along?
yes they all get along, if you were breeding, then you would have to remove them. red rumps and kakariki's are one pair of birds to each cage when breeding...! they are very territorial
    They are tame?
    no, not tame

And what is the pink one in the 3 pictures below?
now that one is mine.. thats ken the galah ( rose breasted cockatoo )

    Matty,
Ken is very beautiful. That color of pink...
A small part of me would be intimidated by so many birds, as your friends. But the other part wants to hear them all together, peeping and whispering and flapping, and rustling and murmuring. Thanks for the info. Chelle.
