Hillari this is a family board,with young kids reading here(my 8 year old loves Merlin and likes to learn here too.I never let her read Dash's thread...but not all kids are supervised)and that thread was getting very x rated.There is a time and place for flirting,etc....a family parrot/bird forum is probably not the place,eh?So we have all moved on

Yeah, things got rather heated, in more ways than one. But from what I understand, we are planning to reintroduce the thread in a couple weeks or so. (Don't take my word for exactly when. I don't remember!)

Well.. lemmie say this. I have to be fair to both sides, I interacted in the "no no ness". It is gone, Dan removed it for now. There was some "deep" sharing of opinions...some out of controlness.... for some it was fun, others well it was uncalled for; shouldn't be on a family board. I won't go into deep detail as mine may differ from a majority of others.. but all in all it is temp. gone..

Comparing topics as serious as that to needlessly role-playing drinking and sex is rediculous. The removal of Dash's thread cannot be relevantly justified to those in the least. That's a whole other arguement and those threads are moderated differently. It's pretty much comparing sex ed to picking up a prostitute. Some things can be performed with decency even with a serious topic.

well, that and if a 13 year old was wandering the board (as there probably is, as the minimum age is 13yrs to join this board) there most likely wouldn't be any issue with them reading about a woman wondering if her psychologist was being unprofessional or homosexuals and their rights, as they have opinions and beliefs too - but inappropriate discussion could be.

Well, we did have a poll awhile back about whether or not to keep the Deep Thinking forum, and the majority of people who voted wanted to keep it. I used to participate in that forum a loooong time ago but haven't in quite awhile, but in the long run I think it's nice for people to get to talk about non-bird-related stuff -- and important issues at that -- with each other every now and then. ^_^

That's quite true, not to mention that the minimum age to *register* is 13, but there is no requirement for how old you have to be just to view the site and read the threads.

But anyway, stuff happens, then it all blows over. Since it's all been resolved and stuff, there's no need to fret too much over it. ^_^

devinbre: as i have already pointed out...! there are only really 2 people who know what happened..! and how it came to the conclussion that the thread was closed... and it happened in PM's,
those 2 people are myself and dan. the third person i mentioned before was invovled in only one part.

my choice of threads to quote, was merely to point out that they are not bird related, and therefore why should they be allowed on a bird forum..

now the original question was asked as to why the thread was closed and what happened...
only dan and myself no what really went on ( the facts ), and it is safe to say that neither dan or myself will discuss it...!
people can speculate, and they can voice thier opinions on what they think it was about but reality is, they are guessing.

why you ask..? because i was responsible for pushing dan to the point where he made the thread disapear completely..! it was not dan who initially closed the thread.. again this person who closed the thread was pushed by me..! ( i think thats how it went )

i apologized to everybody concerned, to those who saw the begining of the discussion, to those who enjoyed the thread, to the creator of " the greatest thread " in TF..! and to those who bore the brunt of my argument..

we were discussing a drink and how it is consumed...! nothing more, nothing less, yet certain people think this is sexual...! we are not all chardonay swillers and beer guzzlers..! and before anybody jumps in and mentions the handcuffs, i will explain...! handcuffs are worn by the gentleman to give the lady to which you are about to drink the tequila body shot off (peace of mind ....!)
another topic that seemed to get people steamed up was the fashion chat about a skirt and some boots...! both of which when worn show nothing more than a womans thigh's... they cover more than a bikini...! which is legal to wear in a public place...!

now if your thinking that these topics were the cause of the thread being closed then you are wrong...! we were asked to drop these topics and move on..! which we did..! after our next topic was deemed inapropriate and shot down. dan started a new topic to discuss " soccer "..!
