    Yellow Sided Conures

Are they just Yellow Sided conures or Yellow Sided Green Cheek conures? A breeder near my house will be selling her baby ones soon and, I'm not sure if they're a different type of green cheek or what. I am seriously considering getting one from her. Are they real pretty?

Yellow Sided Green Cheek Conures. The "Yellow Sided" is a mutation. It can be mixed with other mutations of GCC. I think they look very nice.

Oh ok, thank you. I'll go back to her website and check them out again. They're still little babies at this point. Since they are Pyrrhura's then they should be quieter than the suns and other aratinga's. Although I have heard Suns and they're not as loud as I imagined them to be.

GCC are pretty quite, well that is what some of the TF members say so. If you wouldn't mind, what is the website of the breeder? I'd like to see the lil guys... lol

Well she has Aratinga's (the loud ones) and Pyrrhura's as well. She's located here in San Diego, Ca. http://www.mybabybirds.com/ She doesn't ship the birds. She's real nice too.

    Re: Yellow Sided Conures

I was at her house once and I saw her Queen of Bavaria. I even said, "Is that a Queen of Bavaria conure?" And she said yes, she was surprised that I knew the name of his type/color. He's a very big bird, almost the size of a red lored amazon or something. He's not a little conure, that's for sure. She has him in his own cage too.

    Re: Yellow Sided Conures

Exotic birds are a lot less expensive in the states. Jewels put a dent in my fiancee's pocket of $499.00 plus taxes and he is I guess you would say... the "no frills" of the green cheek conure family! An African Grey goes for about 1400 here as well, some breeders 1200. But the baby yellow sided conures are adorable now I am thinking of a friend for Jewels... its too bad she doesn't ship them... ( sighs)wish I lived in San Diego.

    Re: Yellow Sided Conures

Well are there any conure breeders in Toronto? There may be breeders who will ship the birds to Toronto. I thought I saw some shipping breeders websites. If I find the link, I'll post it here.

Here are two places that ship, this first one is located in south Texas: http://www.conurecorner.com/ This second one is in south Arizona: http://www.southwestparrots.com/ Both places sell Yellow Sided Green Cheek Conures, as well as other types of conures.

    Re: Yellow Sided Conures

I saw a Queen of Bavaria conure in Birdland here in San Diego. She was the sweetest, most tame, loving bird. I held her and talked to her and pet her. I wasn't planning on buying her especially after I saw their price: $3,499.00. No thanks. But she was very beautiful.

    Re: Yellow Sided Conures

I think Queen of Bavaria Conures are absolutely exquisite! I was reading somewhere that they may be an endangered species soon, something about their is only 5000 left in the wild or was it in captivity???? That could explain the price. I can't remember where I was reading that article, if I find it again I will post it. But its sad when these animals are so beautiful, loving, tame and deserve good homes but can't find them because pet stores and breeders want to charge an arm and a leg for them.

Yes I think that's why they want so much for her. You don't seem to see too many around. I hardly ever see them anywhere, but the others I see much more often.

    Re: Yellow Sided Conures

Most people cannot stand the noise of a QOB. The screech of an aratinga conure, coming from the bird the size of a mini macaw...
I know a few people with QOBs as pets and they just rave about their pet quality. Too bad we dont see many of them around.

The price is not only the deciding factor on the QOB- you have to obtain a CITES permit to own these birds, and adhere to regulations- birds must be banded, domestically raised, cannot cross state lines without permits, etc etc etc. All very regulated.
