    Lightbulb Eating cardboard

My budgie eats cardboard (or at least gnaws it) And in the past week he has stopped singing and chirping He is about 10 weeks old now, and is on his own in the cage with no mirrors. Anyone know why he is doing this?

    Thanks

    Re: Eating cardboard

Is he eating it? If he is eating it, take it away. Most just chew it up into pieces but some have been know to eat it and this can cause problems.

How large of a cage does he have, what are you feeding him, how long have you had him, how many toys does he have in his cage, how often do you get him out of the cage, what does he do when he is out of his cage? Need more information to help.

as mentioned, if he eats it, remove it from the cage. Most cardboard has glues, dye, chemicals and even metals in them. If he is just tearing it up and making a huge mess everywhere it maybe ok just make sure the cardboard is birdie safe

    Re: Eating cardboard

Ah great, I think he is just shredding it but not eating it. But with regards to him no longer singing: he has a large cage; he eats Trill budgie seed, millet spray and sometimes vegetables; he is about 10 weeks old; he has lots of toys but I rotate them in order not to overfill the cage; and he comes out daily to fly around. Perhaps he is a bit bored? I'm not sure.

Thanks for all the replies guys

Would be a good time to offer him pellets to eat. Keep offering him different types of fresh fruits and veggies, scrambled eggs, pasta, and rice are also some good things to offer. Best to start now while he is young. Does he play with the toys? You may need to teach him how to play.

Trill is a trusted brand, thats what we buy. It will be great to hear what his likes and dislikes are when you try him on new foods.
