Poopy poop poop
Okay, so Pippin won't wear a birdie diaper. I get pooped on a lot. Who else gets pooped on here, and what are some other ideas to deal with it?

Re: Poopy poop poop
You could never feed him..then he'll never poop. But I don't suggest you do that.
What about having clothes just for Pippin. Some people have painting clothes...we (bird lovers) have poop clothes. I couldn't get Amaretto to like the flight suit/bird diaper either.

Re: Poopy poop poop
I was able to teach Cricket to go potty when I tell her.
Everytime she would go as a baby, I would just say "go potty" and then tell her what a good bird she was. Now she knows not to go on me, and will usually go potty when I ask.
For milo though, I just have a big t shirt, and expect to have to change my clothes atleast once.

Re: Poopy poop poop
Bill was so upset over bird diaper that he never pooped on me again... now he bites my ears till I let him off me... Don;t put your bird on the shoulder, or don't wear good things I learned to model bird poop enough to make it a fashion statement... (I have a misfortune of sitting down in the fresh poop on the chair and floor)...

Re: Poopy poop poop
LOL Yeah, not feeding him would be quite effective! And would result in a quieter bird. I'll quit before someone slaps me.
I have some old baby burp rags that I could use for my shoulder. I can't believe how often birds poop. I'm so glad kids don't poop that often!

Re: Poopy poop poop
Kate, one day I came to work (and I am a broker at a company working with fortune 500 companies), black suit, high hills... And... a big white poo on my back, because I have placed my suit on the chair... Ok after being told about that for the 10th time, it gets old... So something like that takes place:
account executive (smart guy): You have bird poo on your back
Me: Yeah, I know - don't go out of the back door, there is a large tucan sitting on the roof and gets everybody. (we were in Philly, PA)
Account executive: oh ok
10 seconds later: email goes around warning of a tucan out by the back door and advising not to take clients through there. 1 minute later:
account executive: Josh, don't take them there, oh no!!! * flying through the hallway and blocking the backdoor with his body* Mister CEO of In******* you cannot go through there, their is a tucan out by the back door pooping on everybody!
Luckily Mr. CEO and I already had that discussion about why I have bird poo on my back, actually he was proud to show a bird poo on his quarterly report and some bitemarks, he probably also figured I was annoyed by that time, but he did say that that tucan is probably a tame bird who got away, because they don't live in PA naturally...
Hm... sometimes I just wonder...

I wear an old t shirt, an old pair of jogging pants and have a few napkins handy to wipe it off. Comes off fairly easy.

Re: Poopy poop poop
I taught my bird how to go potty like little cricket, as long as I ask Boomer about every 20 minutes, no poop on me anymore!!! If I dont ask him he climbs off my shoulder and sits on my arm looking at me strange, if I dont get his clue, he poops on my arm. Birds are very smart and I have heard lots do get potty trained easily so it is worth a try.
Fly Free Boomer, we will forever love you.

Re: Poopy poop poop
Yup, I potty trained Boogie. Being a conure tho, he takes these ENORMOUS morning poos, cause he holds them in all night. So I would set him on his doorway when I got him out in the morning and say "go poo Boogie" until he went poo, then I would make a huge deal out of it and praise him lots.... Eventually, I was able to do it any time of the day (as long as he was in his doorway) and he would go for me. Once he knew the command pretty well and was going on a regular basis (and not going on me anymore) I started putting him on the garbage can and telling him to go. So now he can go anywhere, as long as he's on a can of some sort! (he still won't go if I just set him down on a paper tho....)

I really need to try to teach Pippin! I've learned to understand birdie body language when they're about to go, so it shouldn't be too hard I guess!

There is no escape. The poo, just like its makers, is unrelenting. This morning I did laundry after discovering that all three of my favorite jeans had bird poo on them....
