Will work on that for you, not that they are that great. Do you want the cheap ones made from things around the house?

Once the camera gets batteries I'll post some of mine. They never look too great though, and never really get played with. They're fun to make though.

ooh! I'll post some. I JUST made like 7 from $15 worth of supplies that I'm happy about, and my camera batteries have been charging since last night so I'll contribute in a little while.

Re: Anyone make Homemade toys for their fids?
excuse the horrible lighting. I put up pieces of paper on the wall to make it easier to see the toys, but it made it so that I couldn't use flash. so the shadow of the camera is in most of the pics...
balsa slices, wooden beads, hemp rope, pony beads.

balsa slices, hemp rope, pony beads. basically a bunch of smaller versions of above, sort of. not really.

balsa slices, wooden beads, hemp rope, pony beads.

balsa slices, wooden beads, hemp rope, more pony beads... balsa is colored with food coloring.

now for a change of pace! popsicle sticks (colored with food coloring, NOT pre-colored as those dyes are harmful), hemp rope, pony beads. melody's toy gave me this idea!

wooden spools (again, food coloring), popsicle sticks, wooden beads (food coloring), hemp rope.

wooden discs, wooden beads, hemp rope, pony beads.

wooden beads and hemp rope. this just screamed 'cockatiel toy' to me so I put it in beakers cage right away.

a curly straw toy. this I am proud of. I saw one on parrot toy angels and wondered how it was made... well I figured it out! its a big of a lengthy process but the lovebirds LOVE them. and they are dirt cheap.

closeup

so those are mine.

I love those curly straws!!! Please post how you make them
I always make my own toys. My birds go nuts over breaking noodles so I make toys out of them. Here's an old post that has pics of my toys: http://www.tailfeathersnetwork.com/c...ad.php?t=25430
Here's another for more ideas: http://www.tailfeathersnetwork.com/c...ad.php?t=25541

You have to watch to make sure your bird will not eat the straws. Most just tear them up or poke hole in them.
You can take some of the paper covered straws, cut them in half, tie some together and hang. You can always pick up a few straws at McDonalds for free. The birds love to tear the paper off if nothing else.
