Unhappy Button quails eating their eggs??

Hi!! I hhave a pair of button quail, both female (I've never bred them), and recently they've started eating their eggs. When I go to collect them in the afternoon they have pecked holes in them and sucked out the inside! They had plenty of water and food as well as some things to peck at and a toy for if their bored.. is this normal or am I doing something wrong?? I don't mind about the eggs, I just want to make sure that northing is wrong with the quails.

Normally it would indicate that they are missing something in their bodies which would make sense since a quail has to produce so many eggs. For quail, you really have to feed them well for them to lay. Try boiling a chicken egg and then mashing the whole thing up and giving it to them... they should like that.

probably, but the egg mashing of chicken eggs is a good idea

P.S my button quails sit on their eggs for a week {both male and female} then ditch them.

All birds are beautiful, they are angels send by god!

You can most definately boil their own eggs too. It only takes a few minutes then let them cool and just take a small dish and kinda mash it up with your finger and give it to them. That is what I used to do when I didnt want to hatch anymore in the incubator (though I am saving them again and now have 30... lol)
