    bird backpack/carrier

    Has anyone tried this?

I was thinking of getting one. The weather is getting nice in Louisiana and I'd likie to take the birds out with the least chance of contact with mosquitoes as possible (that's why I gave up on leashes and harnesses...mosquitoes and p ossible dog attacks).

    Re: bird backpack/carrier

Nikki, that looks like a nice carrier. I like how it goes on the front.

I use the carrier found here.

I like it because it's light, I can use it as a travel cage for road trips (seatbelts into the car) and it does come with mosquito netting. Just thought I'd throw it out as an option.

Let us know if you get the other type of carrier and how you like it - I can carry one on my back and two at the front!

Wow, I really like that one! Does the mosquito netting come with the carrier, or do I have to order that separately?

    Re: bird backpack/carrier

Nikki, I found a site in the US that has them - I think they are the manufacturer. The netting is available for $4.99 - have a look here

I'm pleased with it overall, although the perches are too small for Willow - I used a rope perch although it does stick out a bit and make it tough (but not impossible) to put the backpack carrier on.

One thing I like best is that it has a nice big door. I have a hard time finding smaller cages that don't have finch-sized doors!

I have been debating getting one of those as well, if I add this conure into my life. Anyhow, I found the adventure pack for cheaper ($105.95 or $110.95 for the one with mosquito netting with free shipping) if you are interested: http://www.parrot-and-conure-world.c...ird-cages.html

    Re: bird backpack/carrier

Thanks both of you! There's a beautiful park near my apartment with two lakes, and I would just really love to be able to take the birds out. Bartok especially enjoys the outdoors and fresh air, but it's so hard to walk around with a travel cage in your hand.
