Re: Tail Bobbing Please Help Me

Hi Monica, tail bobbing can be a sign of illness, distress, excitement or exhaustion from what I've experienced. How long has it been going on? I would hate to say give it a day and have your budgie die, but on the other hand it could be nothing. No one here can diagnose over the internet.

If you are really concerned, call your avian vet, and if necessary book a visit to go.

are there any other signs of illness - not eating, flufffed up all the time, quiet, change in behaviour etc?!

Re: Tail Bobbing Please Help Me

Do you see any other symptoms like being less active, losing appetite, noisy breathing, panting, or mouth breathing?
    Is Angel puffing up?

Tail bobbing is up-and-down movement of the tail when the bird breathes.

If you are concerned, like raptorace said, I recommend that you take Angel to an avian vet. A healthy bird shouldn't be tail bobbing constantly to breathe.

It's when a bird's tail goes up and down.

watch him carefully and be prepared to offer warmth ...
get a lamp set up near a small cage and cover with a thick cloth so the light doesnt bother him
if hes starting to get sick he will need the warmth to keep his body heat up as he fights the sickness..birds have a temp of 41 degrees celcius...much higher than humans and they lose heat easily when sick
    keep him quiet
this wont help in the long run if hes getting sick with something that needs meds but sometimes his own immunity can get him over a mild illness
id hate to risk it tho...
id ring a vet and ask him to direct u to an avian one ..even an ordinary vet has access to advice..
good luck let us know please
