Toucan Breeders in the UK
Hello there. I do not plan to own a Toucan for at least a few years, but decided to search for breeders beforehand to get some knowledge on reliable breeders. But i have only found breeders in the US, and due to strict endangered animal export regulations many people do not end up getting their bird or even their money back. Does anyone know of any breeders in the UK or Europe?

Re: Toucan Breeders in the UK
Hey Sweetytweety. Yea, i remember when i first saw them at a bird show in Lanzarote. There was a giant aviary full of tropical trees and plants, and in there where a handfull of toucans. It looked so natural and i have allways thought it a really great shame that there are close to 0 breeders. I know they are really hard to breed and it can take years of dedication just for one load of chicks, i was just suprised that i couldnt find any european breeders, and only 3 in the US. In my first post, by a few years in mean more like 5 or so
It would be great if i could eventually breed them. Supplying such a beutifull and rare bird and also ensuring their servival.
Edit: Oh, heres a snap i got of one at recent birdshow while on holiday this year. Its quite a large picture: http://www.distant-horizons.net/images/Toucan1.jpg

I don't think toucans can talk. I don't know much about them, except they're soft beaks.
If I had money, space, and good location it would be cool to build a huge aviary for one, but I don't have either of those 3.
I didn't even know people kept them as pets, interesting.

Apparantly they make quite good pets, although not for children as they can poke very hard with their beaks (but their bite isnt hard). There are several sites with information on keeping toucans as pets, but they link to only a handfull of breeders, and they dont ship to the UK.
