    Molting or someting else?

I noticed today that Twinkles has some feathers missing around one side of her nare. So, let me go back a week. She got in the feed bowl before I knew it and over filled herself. She had what the vet said was like our upset stomach. Anyway, he said she could also have a seed hung (was throwing up) and was trying to get it up. Told me to give 2 drops of mineral oil twice a day for a couple of days. Well, I did and she scratched. The third day I stoppped. She is her old self again....only the feathers missing around where she had scratched. Two of my others are molting. Could she be doing the same? I haven't seen her scratch over the last few days. No discharge from her nares, they are clear inside, active, eats good again flies all over the house and into the other 4's business!

Have you spotted any pin feathers anywhere else on her? She could be molting, but I think it sounds like she may have scratched out those feathers. I don't think it would be a problem, though, since you said she's pretty much back to normal now. ^_^

Thanks....I haven't notice any....just felt a few. I am taking her today to see the vet. I want to have the band cut off. It seems to bother her. She is always biting at it. Also to have him check her over to be safe.

Just got back. Vet said more than likely the mineral oil caused it...her trying to get it off. No parasites, etc. Not infected. Leave cream off and let nature heal. Poop looked good. Had a hard time getting her band off. It was tight. Had a sore starting under it. Anyway, my little angel is ok. He said she should feel alot better now the band was off.

Woo, that all sounds like good news! And yay that you got that band off before the sore got any worse! I bet Twinkles is very pleased. ^_^

She moved more on the perches than the sides of the cage tonight. Tell Ebo she and the rest of the gang love the Petite Hookbill goldenfeast! They send their thanks for telling them about it!
