    Avian Vet Prices?

Hey everyone, just a quick and random poll.

On average, how much is everyone paying their (avian) vet for a lovebird checkup?

Regular checkup with fecal test and throat culture is around 60ish. we get blood tests so they add to the bill.

Hello everyone, I've never taken my lovebird to a vet. Should I? And what should I have them checked for?

That is up to you, but it would be a good idea to make sure everything is good. A good Avian Vet will check nostrils (no discharge), check for a smooth beak, feet, feathers, ears, eyes, tail and make sure the vent area is clean. They will also check inside their mouth, wings and check their weight. They can check for any diseases and take blood if you wish, but I believe you have to pay extra for those things.

Some think that a bird should be taken to the Vet when you first get it and at any sign of illness - others take their bird in for a check-up a couple times a year. It depends on you and what you feel you should do.

    Re: Avian Vet Prices?

Diana this is a old post but I am happy to see that the Bird and Pet Clinic still dont charge that much for a exam. They are the ones I took my boomer to for years and Dr. Joseph was the best vet around here.

    Re: Avian Vet Prices?

I have 17 Budgies and I use a Vet in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They only charge me $40 for a basic exam. They will take a group of 4-6 birds at once for $40. Blood & lab work is $60 per bird. I do my own wing trimming, nail clipping, and whatnot so I do not know the prices for that.
