You must use a tuberculin syringe and needle and drop one drop of medication by mouth or on the skin at the back of the neck. The injectable Ivermectin is NOT water soluble, it will mix like oil and water. This information is from Dr. Dustin Clark, head avian vet at the University of Arkansas vet school.

pls! help me...give me some advice.....i'm feeling very bad for self treatment on my birds.....
my 13 cockatiel has feather lice & 1pair has scaly skin on upper neck with light scaly foot, i give them "PARID pour on",
which contains Ivermectin I.P.(Indian Pharmaceutical) 0.5%v/w
    Benzyl Alcohol I.P. (as preservative)
1drop at neck on the skin under the feather.

    is it safe???

I answered this a little while ago. Using 1% Ivermectin (you can find it at your local tack and feed store) use only 1 cc or 1 ml per quart of water (I said 2 ml before but it's only 1 ml or 1 cc). Shake it up well and give it to all of your birds at the same time. 1 source of water. Remove their water the night before then give them the Ivermectin water the next day. Leave it until nightfall and replace it with regular water. I have had 100% success using this method. You're supposed to repeat the procedure in 2 wks. It's so much better than all of the chemical baths and sprays that say they cure scaley mites. I've never had a re infestation and it's been about 10 years since I treated all my birds.
