    Unhappy getting worried

Hello all, I am new to the site and a new bird owner. I have a young cockatiel who joined our family last week and found this site via google. Great information you all have here and hope to join in on some fun.
My bird is not eating so well and I'm getting worried. I have read what many of you had posted but, I'm still concerned. He will not touch the Zupreem pellets, fruits or veggies, and seeds for that matter; he picks out all the millets trough the seeds. All he "radio statics" for is millet spray and he only does that when he's on my finger or shoulder like he's trying to tell me something. When he's in the cage he does chirp. He was born in Dec and is young so that may have something to do with it, I'm not sure.

    Hi John, welcome to TF!

I've read that young birds sometimes "regress" back to wanting to be weaned... I'm no expert on that at all, but perhaps there are threads in the Babies/Breeding section that deals with this problem.

Have a look at this article, as well: It is about handfeeding a regressed bird:

Hi John. I am in the same delima as you with bowls only at the bottom of the cage. However, I know that if you go to Petsmart.com or other pet supply stores, you can buy bowls that clip onto the bars of cages. I am taking Pearl to the vet on Tuesday and will be picking some of them up since I'll be in town. Good luck and please keep us posted on your babies progress. BTW, our babies are around the same age. Pearl is a middle December baby.

Ok, thought I would give you all a little update. I replace the garbage seed this bird was addicted to with Nutri-berries. Atleast I got him to eat yippie! Now I've been slowly adding pellets to the nutri-berries and he's actually picking them up and nibbleing them. I guess this will be a long process but atleast he's eating and a very happy bird I must say

That's good to know. I wish Merlin would be as cooperative as your bird.

    Re: getting worried

Are the foods you mentioned foods he normally eats, or are you converting him from one kind of food to another?

If he's a baby who just got weaned, he might be regressing. In that case you might want to get some advice from the breeder.
