    DVD for tiel mental health?

I was just wondering if any of you had a DVD of birds/nature that you played for your birds when you aren't around. If so, what is the name of the DVD?

I want to make sure my little feathered angels stay entertained if I go somewhere for the day.

no i don't but it'd definatly be interesting to see how many ppl do. usually i jsut leave the T.V on for my three and keep the window blinds open so they can see outdie (they're on the opposite wall as the window and jsut at the right sopt to see outside). i've made some CD's with jsut random music on it and they seem to enjoy that aswell.

I leave my ipod on jazz when I leave, but sometimes they seem startled by the lack of visual to the sounds. I don't have cable and can't pick up any channels clearly (i live waaaay out from "the big city"). so yeah, I need a DVD. I hope someone has a good one.

I play the Baby Einstein DVDs for Charlotte and now for the budgies as well. They all seem to like it. Charlotte especially loves the Baby Beethoven one.

I leave the radio on a talk station, sometimes I leave music. They are by a window and can look outside too. They have tons of toys. I don't think my birds really 'listen' to the radio much. I have an electronic coo-coo clock (It plays wild bird songs on the hour). I notice that they chirp when the clock goes off hourly and when there are birds outside. I think those sounds get their attention and the radio is just background noise to them.

AW: DVD for tiel mental health?

I personally believe that the best thing to keep a bird mentally healthy is a conspecific.

If you have more than one bird, thereīs no need to play music or anything, because they have themselves to talk to.

For a single bird, the time you are away is really bad - being a flock bird, itīs such an awful, boring and sometimes even frightening thing to be left alone. Maybe playing some music is a good distraction, but the best would be a companion, so they would never have to be alone anymore.

    Just my five pence...

Re: DVD for tiel mental health?

I leave the radio on a classical music station.

Sometimes the TV is on with sport, but I don't leave it on when they have screaming stuff or programmes with negative content. I believe they can feel it...

I have a CD with soothing bath music (guitar, bells and water) and I sometimes play one of the tracks for them when they go to bed.

Re: DVD for tiel mental health?

I have this video and I have used it a couple times: http://petsittervideos.com/birdsitter.htm

Pedro seems a bit startled when I use it but that might be because it is mostly larger birds.

Re: DVD for tiel mental health?

thanks for all the tips! i'm checking into the links that were posted here. the world parrot trust says that a flat screen tv is much better than a regular one because of the blinking or something, but i doubt we will be getting one of those in the near future, so i hope my regular tv will work.
