Smile The Budgie Family (dial-up users beware)

I took a little trip last night to visit the woman (and her flock!) that bred my Lulu. The pictures are of her current flock. She no longer breeds them, but some are paired up anyway. Her oldest budgie is Precious, who is 12 years old AND Lulu's mom! Funny thing is she acts a lot like Lulu. Very cute. Precious is also her only tame budgie, so I was able to hold her, if only for a minute or two. Anyway, pictures and descriptions below. And yes, you'll notice she has round cages The birds are out of their cages a very large percentage of the day and are in the corner of the room..not that I agree with round cages, but the birds are very happy and healthy.

    Top: Peeps and Stumps

These two are known as the "cranky" (except another word was orginally used ) pair. The front one is Jewel and the one behind her is Bluebird. They dive-bombed me a couple of times while I was taking pictures.

Snowball. Snowball is somewhat of a loner and doesn't interact with the others.

Greenbird on top and below is his mate, Vi. Vi is a Violet bird, so pretty.

Lulu's mom! This is Precious, who is 12 years old.

Top to bottom: Jewel, Bluebird and Greenbird.

This is Stumps. He looks exactly like Bluebird. The only way to tell the difference is Bluebird is always with his mate. Stumps and Bluebird are Cobalt, but in the picture they look skyblue.

    Snowball

I think this is Bluebird. (Sitting on a plant that he knows he's not allowed on!)

Vi, the Violet. It's hard to tell here, because the picture makes her look Cobalt.

    Precious on her mommy.

    Vi

    Bluebird, I believe.

Greenbird and Peeps in back. He was named Peeps because when he was a baby he made a different noise compared to all the other babies.

    Vi, the violet.

    Bluebird and Jewel, the crankies.

    Precious

    Bluebird and Jewel again.

    Precious

This is Mom (that's her name).

Last, by not least, Peeps. His colouring reminds me of Lulu, but they are not related.

Great pictures! That's a good looking budgie-bunch, and you got some great flying pictures! Lulu's mom Precious is real pretty.

Is this breeder a friend Kate? If so, maybe you could talk to her about a few things. Like the rusted cage they are in/on, the rusted clip holding the apple slice, the bell toy in need of a good cleaning and the wood/metal (?!) dowel perches all the birds are sitting on.

Such pretty birds! I couldn't help laughing when I saw their freaked-out wide-eyed expressions that are only exaggerated by the camera flashing. Only Precious seems to be not as scared as the other birds about getting her mug shot. The cranky pair is just too cute, in an amusing way.
