    Red face Nyah

I just bought a new budgie. We think that its a female but were not sure. Were taking her to the vet today with JJ to get their wings clipped. They are living in the new cage i bought them in my room. They have been preening each other all the time! Its so cute!

I will post pics once i can find my camera!!!

Have you disregarded what was told to you yesterday in the chat room on another forum about quarantining new birds...

Because if Nyah is carrying something infectious, JJ could become infected. Both birds could die.

Go to the post in Care about budgies wing's clipped. There is PLENTY of info on "why" there.

yes, it's definatly important to quarantine new birds for at least 30 days. it gives you a chance to bond with your new bird and moniter her eating/behavior patterns (important because she will be highly stressed going to a new environment and it's key to make sure that she is still eating and still acting normally). and most importantly, as gail said, it keeps both birds safe from contracting any unknown diseases/viruses from one another.

p.s-my lady tiel is named Nyah

    Congrats on your new bird!
Just make sure you stick to QTing for 30 days, at least... I know it's hard because you want to see them interact, but trust me, you'd rather have them be apart for 30 days than have one of them potentially getting sick.

    Marisol-

I'm glad you have had the sense to move them apart and get them checked out after being advised by us. Unlike the last guy I tried to advise,.

P.S: check out your "Only eats seed-HELP!" threasd as I had success with broccoli.
