Safe glue to use when i build a play gym??!??

Hi, I'm planning to build my budgie a really great big play gym with heaps of toys and activities etc. I'm making it using icy pole sticks and that kind of thing (all non-treated wood), but i need a glue that is going to be safe incase he chews it up (like he probably will). I was thinking that for this I could use papier-mache glue.... you know that one they gave us in primary school made of just flour and water. So i know it should be fine, just thought i would double check. Also, i want to colour some of the wood, normall food dye should be ok for this wouldnt it?

    Thanks!

try goin to the hobby shop and find wood glue that is non toxic. and just use a tiny spec of glue to hold it together.

I would try and avoid using glue altogether and try and make joints to snap the wood together , making joints are also very strong.

Joints sound like a great idea, but i have nowhere near the skill required to get too technical, lol. I stayed pretty clear of arts and crafts at school, so this is going to have to be fairly basic. I was hoping papier-mache glue (flour and water) would be ok, non-toxic wood glue sounds good too, my concern was that it is classed as non-toxic for humans, woud it also be safe for birds? I know they can be very sensitive, like air fresheners can kill them and there fine for us.

Doesnt ANYONE have any idea about papier-mache glue? or whether non-toxic wood glue is also safe for birds or just non-toxic for humans?

sorry, all i can think of is go to a hobby shop and make sure the glue is non-toxiz and use as little as possible.

Paper mashie is just water, paper and flour or glue isnt it ? iv forgot how to make it, but it may be okay so long as its black and white paper only, and the other ingredients arnt toxic to birds.
