Should I get the cage first then the budgie?

    Question....

It's been a long time since I had a budgie and I'm wondering if it would be wiser to select the cage, toys etc, get it all set up THEN go get the budgie or does it not matter? Because I can't find a breeder around here I'm probably going to have to go to the pet store route so what should I look for cagewise? I'll need one with a stand because of the cat...is it possible to find a good solid stand in a pet store?

    Thanks!

    .....

It would be good to buy cage first, of course you can by descent stands for cages in petstores, You may want to have the budgie in a diffrent room from the cat since the cat will try to eat the bird when the cat in hungrey or board.

Around my area of petsores it was best to find a cage in the paper. since cages are expencive around here.

So buy biggest cage you can afford (sqaure and horizontal bars ) though my last cage had vertical bars and my budgie could climb eaisly and fast.

Buy toys go home wash the cage and toys prepare the cage, find a safe cat free spot, go and buy budige

Renember if you see a budige you love while u r choosing a cage you could properly buy or leave a deposit for the bird and leave it at petstore while u set up the cage

    Re: by the way

I'd buy the cage and have it set up before buying the budgie. If the cage isn't set up you'll ahve the budgie in the little box for a while setting up the cage and it is easiest and less stressful to have the cage set up beofre getting the budgie.

ahhhhhh, yes, very good idea to get the cage first, or what will you put the budgie in if you get that first.............???

And if you had the cage to put the budgie in but no toys then it would be a bad idea to disturb the new bird to get all the stuff in. But i still dont get what u thought u would do if you got the bird b4 the cage...........
