    Mess Control?!?!

I love giving my guys things like mashed veggies and cooked foods like lentils and pasta, but i DONT love the chewed up, spat out, half eaten bits that get plastered to the walls, floors, cage bars, etc. Is there some way of serving these mushy foods so that this doesn't happen?

Hmm, I wish I knew... mine just FINALLY started eating new things.. now, once they see the finches eat something, they try it out right away. Unfortunatly, just like the finches, if they decide they don't like something, they throw it everywhere!

Maybe try putting it in a deeper bowl, so that most of the food hits the sides of it, not the cage/wall.

Will see if that one works, i find that when i start using deeper dishes they just can't be bothered to reach in at all. It also doesn't help when they grab a mouthful and run off to eat it.

The only thing that i've had a little success with was putting the food on a dish on their playgym, in the middle of the floor, surrounded by towels on all sides, lmao!!! It worked fairly well, apart from the fact that i had to sit there with them or else they wouldn't go down to the play gym, and then the fact that some food STILL got flung past the towel border.

Hehe, mine like to take stuff elsewhere to eat it, too... and then of course they drop it on the floor, look at it, and go back for a different piece.

They also have favourite bits, and if they accidentally pick out a piece that's not their favourite, they'll shake their head as if i'm trying to poison them.

I'll try the deep bowl idea in a minute, i've just cooked up a batch of red and green lentils mixed with brown rice. Then i've thrown in some peas and grated carrot ... it's SURE to make a mess.
