My Budgie is Boring!!!

That is so sad you aren't hitting it off so well. Where did you buy your Budgie? From a pet store? DId they hand feed them? I just got my budgie yesterday and he is hopping around the cage and chirping A LOT. I dunno why yours isn't. Do you talk to him a lot?Maybe you should try that, just talk to him a whole bunch and see his reaction. My budgie Skooter gets more active the more I talk to him, so maybe it will work for your budgie. I hope every thing works out well for you.

All birds have different personalities. I have had Sky for over a year now. When i first got her she was quiet and very silent. It could be that your budgie is just older or maybe just has a quiet personality. I thought my bird was the most boring pet on the face of the earth when i got her. Now she is the best desision i ever thought of. it really does take time. Even so. A budgie that has been in a home for ONLY 2 month is still getting used to things. They dont even trust the cage yet. Belive it or not when a budgie is in a petstoe cage for a while it is going to think it is home. then moved to another home it takes time. Talk to your budgie. Chirp. Blow a whstle or whistle at it. Say its name over and over. Put your hand in the cage for about 10 minates everyday. then try to pick it up. I am writing a thing on Taming, it'll be up soon. In the mean time keep us posted.

I've had my budgie for over 2 months and it is soooooo boring.All it does is sits here and eats and poops. It wont play with it toys,and it wont chirp.I finally saw her drink so i guess thats a good sign, but i wish she would chirp and trust me.Since she needs excercise i have to grab her to take her out because she wont come since her wings are clipped. I hate doing and she hates it to but thats the only wat to get her exercise.Please tell me how i can earn her trust and make her love me.Thanx.

You might have to show your budgie how to play try putting a treat on the toy so she has to move reach over the toy to get the treat and then she will hopefully realise the toy didnt eat her and she'll be more adventuse.

Maybe those toys dont intrest here so try buying more toys.

Leave the radio/music/telly see if she picks up then. Try talking to her as seaid by Melonie86.

If she isnt alrdy try moving her more in to the sunlight.

If she has a mirror take that out and any fake budgies

I talk to her nonstop and play with her toys to make her more interested but nothing works.She has no mirrors and no fake budgie.But yesterday i saw her drinking in front of me so i think thats a good sign.I once played a fake budgie file and she chirped along with it. She was very active in the store and now does nothing. I just wish i could find someone she loved, because she seems to be more interested in exploring the room when i take her out.Should i let her explore and come over to me when shes ready?

I think you should let her explore the room keep her little mind active and i bet she love you cos if she loves exploring she'll be in a happy mood.

Plus do you watch her explore cos its funny to watch them. the little clowns :haha

I used to complain how she did nothing but sit on her perch and stare at everything all day. It really just takes time. so dont worry. Keep us posted though

A fake budgie isnt that great of a start off though. When you put in a fake budgie usually it thinks it is real and wants to sit with it all day. And in the staore, she thought it was her home. Now that she is moved she is still trying to trust the things. belive it or not, but your budgie can belive that the cuttle bone might come alive ad hurt it. My Sky never used her toy. She hit it, then ran away. hit, run. hit run...the same proces until she trusted it. Now she trusts the whole cage and walks around as if her territory. ...Well it is, but anyway

But her ging down to the water and drinking in front of you, and starting to go about in her cage is great. dont try to play with the toys for her though. show them to her. She notices dont worry, but we dont want to make the budgie parinoyed.<-- (interesting spelling eh?

well my budgies is boring too i had him for 4 weeks now. he lets me touch him he comes out his cage but then i have to fight to get him back he would eat from my hand only seed nothing else.when he comes out he goes in the other room and sit and does nothing all day if he hears a bird he would chirp back but that's it he play with nothing but sit in his cage when he goes back in i talk to him sing to him touch he when he is not viciously beaking me give me some advise

i know what your message says. I have had a budgie that no matter what I did or tried, was never friendly. Good idea is to check out how a budgie acts toward you as far as their personality, before you buy and take the bird home. As we gather more experience with birds, learn ways to avoid some disappointment.

well thanks t the advise i did buy him from a pet store and he is really quiet a little screech and a flap of wing every now and again he come out of his cage some times flies around eats from my hand sits on my sholder u know that kind of suff i talk to him he just sits ther and listen i think i whistle sing dance and he just sits there when i am not home my bf said he sings but i dont kniw he proberly dosent like me that much
