Re: Homemade Perches
The type of screw she has in the photo is called an eye screw. You may be able to get them cheaper from a hardware shop (or just for anyone reading who can't order them from a parrot shop - I haven't seen any online here selling them) - I know that's where we got the big one we use for holding the boing from the ceilling. Screws, etc, from hardware shops will pretty much always be stainless steel (and it'll say on the packet) since no one wants things rusting outside.

Really? That's strange. Pretty much all the screws and nails you can buy here are either ss or brass. Maybe it's because you have less rain than up here?

Re: Homemade Perches
who knows. 7 years of drought here and crops dying again. OT sorry, lol.
OT again, Have 2 farmers here, just asked them, they said high tensile steel, not the same as stainless.

our hardwares in brissy only sell screws and bolts in stainless steel.. i have a few, they are used for outdoor decking and things.. but you have to go to a major hardware store and look real hard for them! i got mine at bunnings...

Re: Homemade Perches
i think a good scrub and baking in the oven does well enough for most wood.
I'm loving the toy perch too. Might just have to nab that idea.
Are they expensive to make? If not you should so sell them. I'd buy if it werent for the P&P here1

Thanks Lee for the adorable sig!
