Red face Newbie from North Carolina :)

    Hi everyone.

Well, my cage has arrived I've spent the past 2 days making toys to go in it.

The new baby won't be here until next Sunday. I'm getting a cockatiel.

Well, won't be much to say until s/he gets here, so until then...!

    -Becky

    By the way

This is the cage I got:

    http://birdcages4less.com/Merchant2/...d_Cages/PA5712

I really liked the playtop on top and the seed guards to keep it from making such a mess, as I will have it in the living room.
I'd put the cage in the kitchen (easy clean up, hard wood floors) but that's where we keep the dog (with a gate) and we don't know how she's going to react to it yet.

It's still a really nice cage, it looks great in the living room.

I wanted to get this cage, which seems to be a favorite in the community

I definitely wish that I did now, I guess. It's much more room inside even though there's not a playtop or seed guards.

    What do you guys think?

I am SO excited!! I went and got all sorts of supplies to make the toys with. Beads, hemp, yarn for little pom poms.. It looks very fun, I hope the new bird likes it.

I couldn't for the life of me find those little hooks every one has to secure them to the cage. It's shaped like a little oval and has a little thing you screw down, hook it on the cage, then screw it back up.
I'd find a picture to post, but I'm sure they're in the "DIY toys" section.

I'm not an expert or anything, but I really liked the second link you sent:

It's roomy, and it's actually not uber expensive. One of the things I was appalled by when I was researching for Katan before I got him were the cage prices in the stores. A good find, in my opinion. And they've got free shipping... which of course, means it'll probably take forever to get to you, but some things are worth waiting for.

Making custom bird toys is also a neat idea. I thought of making him some toys, myself, but I'd likely end up with a voodoo doll sewn to my hand, and we don't want that. Nor do I want to give the little feather-bag that much power over me.

He's already getting me to actually eat so that he can watch me and he'll eat, too.

Let me know how those toys turn out, though, that really does sound fun.

Oh, and welcome to the forum.

    My Katan.

I actually got the cage in less than a week! I was SUPER shocked.
I called after I ordered because they didn't give ANY sort of estimate, and they said it would ship within 24 hours and get to me within 3-5 days.
    Wow.
