My babies and their babies! (w/pics)

Thought I'd share my two cockatiels and their four babies with everyone! Sorry, they aren't the greatest quality but that's what happens when your dog mistakes your good digicam for a bone!

    This is Button, the Mama.

This is Jericho, or Jerry, the Dad.

This is a good picture of Button's white head. It's striking.

Button's white head against her charcoal body. Jerry's markings are just as gorgeous, but there's something about the dark grey against bright white in Button. I've heard a white patch on the back of the head indicates pied - does this mean Button is pied/split to pied?

This is the one with the most personality so far

    The two oldest again

Jerry and Button are great parents and, as you can see, the babies are getting really comfortable with being handled. As far as I know this was their first clutch - Button laid five eggs but only these four hatched. I got Button and Jericho from a lady who didn't have time for them anymore and I had to re-tame them - Button is now completely tame but Jerry is still not too sure about us. He'll come around!

I'll keep you updated on the progress of the babies. Last night the two oldest were flapping their wings like no tomorrow...can't wait until they fledge!

I love them! They're so much fun.

And, I just discovered last night, we ended up with a pearl! She's gorgeous! I will post some (hopefully better!) pictures this weekend of the progress - they grow so fast!! I'm just SO happy we got a pearl! All four now have feathers and are very, very curious about *everything*.

This has been an absolutely wonderful experience and I have learned so much!

    I'll keep you all posted

yup... Button is infact a light pied...... as you can see besides her white face she shows a white patch on her back between the wings almost a t the base of the tail and also a few tail and flight white feathers..... and Jerry being a normal pied (as more evenly pied) thatīs why you got gorgeous WF pied babies.....

they are great, thanks for sharing them and hopefully you share more with us as they grow

Thanks for the confirmation! I had my suspicions.

New pictures will be up this weekend sometime - the babies' feathers are coming in and opening so fast now they change daily - but now you can see all the pretty markings they'll have (especially the pearl pied!).

The two oldest have started having flapping wars, trying out their wings. In the next week or so I should have clumsy little fliers

    Happy Friday everyone
